Starting over.

So, a couple weeks ago, I said that I would keep you updated on my progress with LiveFit. Sadly, life, as it tends to, got in the way. I'm starting again tomorrow. I'm also going to get up early to go to the gym so I can't talk myself out of it. Wise words from my friend, Kaity, an avid runner.

I've got a work out buddy in my friend, Emily, and we're going to text when we've finished a workout. She also suggested a bet, where we don't eat fast food for two weeks. I think that it's actually doable. But, my first order of business it to just finish this week, getting up early to work out. Speaking of. Need to fix my smoothie for energy before my workout.

Also need to make my lunch (which, involves making sure everything is put in a bag, grab n' go). I'll let you know how it goes.

Amazing weekend!

So, sadly, it's been an entire week since I got to see several of my girlfriends from college at our friend, Amanda's wedding. It was also my birthday weekend, so it was fun spending it with people I love and adore, but don't get to see nearly enough.

On Thursday night (9/20), I picked up my best friend, Lauren, from Eppley, carrying a sign that said "Short Twin Sweany" so she'd be sure to recognize me (It had been ten months since our last visit. How else were we supposed to recognize each other?), and then we met my parents at Runza for dinner.

Now, Lauren chose Runza as they don't have them in Denver. Last time she had a Runza, she ordered the kid's meal, which only had half a Runza. Thinking it was the size she would get, she ordered two of them. She said it was okay, though, since she hadn't eaten in almost 24 hours. Two should hold her until her next visit.

Afterward, we drove to Grandview, Mo, where we stayed with my aunt, uncle, cousins an…

I'm not going to lie when I say that I had a hard time getting into this book. It has nothing to do with the writing style, or even what was being written. It was about the treatment of main character, Jamie, by her pretentious, soulless, bourgeois boyfriend. Anytime something bad happened to her, he had absolutely no care to discuss it. He treated her worse than he would have treated the chic, dog du jour that he most likely would have had. The guy gave me panic attacks because anytime Jamie did something that a normal person would have thought was just an accident (tripping over and breaking a lamp while coming home late to a dark condo, for example), her boyfriend was determined that she did it on purpose. I don't know why he stayed with Jamie if he didn't think she was good enough for him. That's how the first half of the book was with him. He kept saying that Jamie wasn't good enough.
I've bee…

Crazy crazy Cuh-RAZY week ahead!

I was seriously hoping that my weekend would be low-key. I did have to work at the store yesterday, which wasn't a huge deal, since I wasn't closing, even though I worked the event, and we were pretty steady through the whole four hours I was there.

Today, I was up early (as per usual on Sundays) to have breakfast at McD's with dad, and tried their Apple/Cinnamon/Walnut oatmeal. Perfect for a chilly, damp morning.

Everything that could go wrong during Worship at church this morning went wrong. Our usual drummer was having plumbing issues at his house, so he couldn't make it (yeah, indoor plumbing trumps drumming, I think), and we had our usual sub, who wasn't familiar with the songs. No big.

Secondly, our bass player slept in. Whoops! It happens. He'll be married in less than three months, and his fiancee is usually pretty on top of things.

Thirdly, the sound was acting all jenky. All staticky and the guitar kept cutting in and out. John, our leader, had to kee…

Gym Timing

So, last week, I said I wouldn't let the boys at the gym intimidate me.

This week, they intimidate me.

Don't get me wrong. I got in, finished my workout and left, but I'm generally shy around strangers anyway. Make those strangers buff when I'm trying to actually GET into shape and I turn into a mess. At least on the inside.

I didn't go to the gym yesterday, so I'm determined to go tomorrow, Thursday and Friday, since my schedule allows for it this week. Next week (The week I go to Missouri on "Vacation"), I have to get in five days. We shall see what happens. Crazy busy, but it'll be good to see my friends again.

I don't get it. I was so psyched to start last week and this week I'm all Meh. Whatevs. Maybe it happens to everyone when starting a new routine.

If anyone has any idea why this happens, PLEASE leave me a message. Maybe I was just bummed because I gained 1.01 this week (which I'm claiming as muscle). Scales lie. I'm leavi…

Holy...Freaking...YUMM!!!!! (And LiveFit Day 3)

Day Three of Jamie Eason's LiveFit Trainer was all about Legs. I like working out my legs because I feel like they should be strong, and the workout was easy to start, but when I added more weight (You're supposed to push your limits in this phase), I could really feel it. Incidentally, I don't feel sore in my legs (yet), but if the rest of the workout has been any indication, I should feel it tomorrow morning.
On to the Holy...Freaking...YUMM!!!!! header. I've been struggling a bit with the eating program part (this is a LOT of food!), and I decided to start making some of the recipes so I'm not eating the same things day after day. I imagine lots of cooking will be done this weekend.
I got my Supplement pack from today, which included Rich Vanilla Whey Protein Powder. I've only ever tried Chocolate Vegan Protein Powder, which I adored, but I'm open to try new things. The first recipe I tried, which called for Protein Powder was Jamie'…

Intimidation is All Mental

Last night was rough. Had a rough night at work after a rough day at work, and it carried over into my morning. I spilled a Skinny Cinnamon Dolce Latte all over the HyVee bathroom. Planning to buy a new one, I stood in line again, but they made me a new one free of charge. That was awesome. I need to write HyVee a letter.

I'd been praying for my work day to be over so I could work out. I wanted it so badly that I was getting antsy. I was actually excited to go to the gym. Call it motivation, call it wanting to be out of a gray cubicle and doing something for myself.

I didn't go to the gym immediately after work. There's an elementary school just down the road, and said elementary school has enough parking for about five cars, so all the parents tend to park there to get their kids, making it hard for gym patrons to find a place to park. Ah well. Whatevs.

When I got to the gym this evening, after having polenta and shrimp with my mom, I went to the gym to start day two of t…

LiveFit Program: Day One

Happy Labor Day. It was so nice to do nothing today except veg out, watch Cheers and catch up on True Blood and nothing else. So nice. So very, very nice.

I did accidentally keep my alarm on, so at 6 AM, Carly Rae Jepson's Call Me, Maybe started blaring. I think Jane was less thrilled than I was, but I shut off all my alarms (four of them. Yes, I have a hard time getting up) and went back to bed for about two and a half more hours. So nice.

Since today was the day I planned to start Jamie Eason's LiveFit program on, I started my morning off with a couple of strawberry protein pancakes and peanut butter. Really good. I am absolutely enamored of protein pancakes. I got the recipe from, and it's so easy that I can make it every morning.

I'd planned to go to the gym shortly after breakfast, but my dad convinced me to hold off so he and mom could come with. We waited until about three to go, but the parking lot was packed. We went to Christy C…

Jamie Eason's LiveFit Trainer

So, this isn't a healthy living blog, per se. It's just a my life blog. And a bit of a dull one at that, but call it a record for posterity. I' going to try to keep myself accountable to my workouts because of this blog. I'm going to start something and since I know I have a few readers (at least one in my house. Thank you, daddy!), I will record my workouts and meal planning attempts here.

A few months back, Julie over at Peanut Butter Fingers started Jamie Eason's LiveFit Trainer. It's a 12-week program on that has a meal plan and workout plan emphasizing lean muscle mass. I've been clamoring to get some kind of endurance back to my body because I feel nothing but winded with a pounding heart with a lot of what I try to do. I'm tall, but I can't only let my frame support so much weight before it kills me (hopefully only metaphorically).

Julie, a seasoned athlete who works out with her husband most days, found it to be too borin…
