Cart before the horse?

I need to be editing. Seriously. If I want my book to come out Memorial Day Weekend, I NEED to get on it. I find myself not wanting to work on it, though. I'm so enamored with Book two that I can't stop writing it. I keep getting inspiration in the oddest of places (who knew an analogy from a church service would work its way into a spy novel?).

Seems I've been doing anything BUT editing this weekend/week. My sis was home last week, so I hung out with her, made her cupcakes, saw The Avengers (Awesome, BTW! Worth the price of admission!), worked lots at BBW. I need to be editing, though. Really need to be doing it. So why can't I make myself? I cleaned my room this evening, but I didn't edit. There's something seriously wrong with that scenario. For seriously.

I've also been thinking a lot about vacations lately. I'd love to take another one. My last one was last September on a family cruise on the Disney Dream to the Bahamas (Not crazy about Nassau. Been there twice. I'm good with not returning).

From left to right, My cousins, Victor, Laura, Jake, Me and my sister, Kiri, at the Pirate Museum in Nassau. Pretty awesome, and air-conditioned, to boot!

You wouldn't know it, but I did have another cousin on that vacation. She was seriously never around when we wanted to take pics. This one is at the Pirate party. Fireworks, pirate dinner menu, Pirates of the Caribbean in the theater (in 3D!). Seriously, Disney Cruises are AWESOME!!!!

The year before, My best friend, Lauren, and I made a road trip to Santa Fe. I had never been there before, and a best friend road trip was just what the doctor ordered to cure my self-inflicted depression.

I wish I could remember the name of this store and put a link to their website, because they had some WICKED awesome jewelry and they ENCOURAGE you to wear tiaras in their store. How cool is that?

Those are only two of the vacations I've ever taken. And they were both epically awesome. You can see why I want another one. But I can't take another one until the book is edited and completed. Why is that such a difficult concept for me to grasp?

I guess we all want to see the potential fruits of our labor before we actually get there. But nothing worthwhile was ever just attained. The surest way to success is at the corner of prepared and dumb luck. Or something like that. :-)

Good night, Moon.
